PROJECT DESIGN BRIEF:
The Burbank residence is a sprawling, single-level home nestled on picturesque acreage. This newly built property seamlessly integrates modern design with natural materials, creating a timeless and tranquil retreat. Featuring ironbark shiplap cladding and batten screening, the exterior exudes rustic elegance, while the use of stone cladding throughout both the interior and exterior enhances the property’s organic aesthetic. The expansive 20-meter swimming pool and polished concrete floors reflect a commitment to refined simplicity, perfectly complementing the home’s open-plan layout. Every aspect of the design emphasises fluid indoor-outdoor living, harmonising the home with its rural surroundings.
CHALLENGES & ACHIEVEMENTS:
Delivering the Burbank project presented challenges associated with its ambitious material palette and extensive detailing. Engineering solutions were required to accommodate the large open-span areas and expansive glazing units, ensuring structural integrity while maintaining aesthetic goals.
The meticulous craftsmanship achieved in the timber linings is a testament to the team’s expertise, showcasing the precise execution of ironbark finishes and batten screening. The intricate detailing demanded a collaborative effort from all trades, resulting in a seamless finish that highlights the project’s architectural sophistication.
This project is a true testament to superior design and construction, where thoughtful materiality meets technical precision. The Burbank residence not only fulfills the client’s vision of a contemporary sanctuary but also exemplifies our commitment to excellence in craftsmanship and design innovation.
