PROJECT DESIGN BRIEF:
This remarkable 3-storey residence, including a basement, was designed to redefine modern living within Teneriffe’s pre-war context. The brief called for an ambitious design featuring a predominantly concrete structure, softened by Accoya timber shiplap batten screening and a natural stone base. The combination of these materials creates a bold architectural statement, seamlessly merging durability with warmth and refined elegance.
A unique design decision elevated the living podium and swimming pool to the upper levels, allowing our clients to take full advantage of the north-easterly views and natural light. The interior incorporates playful forms, voids, and skylights, bringing light and openness into the home’s concrete envelope. Warm American oak floors and custom joinery balance the raw materials, creating a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere.
CHALLENGES & ACHIEVEMENTS:
Building this 3-storey home on a site that encompasses an entire block with three street frontages in the heart of Teneriffe required exceptional logistical planning and project management. The complexity of working within tight city boundaries, combined with the extensive detail required for the off-form concrete structure, presented significant challenges throughout the construction process.
Given the scale and intricacy of the build, meticulous coordination and high-level organisation were paramount to delivering this project successfully. Every detail, from the concrete finishing to the integration of the timber batten screens, was executed to the highest standards.
The result is a bold, modern residence that pushes architectural boundaries, offering expansive, elevated living spaces while harmoniously integrating with its urban surroundings.
